Whenever I try to download my word document in PDF format after adding “borders,” this error haunts me every time. The first time, it took me 4 hours to figure out this issue. I read many blogs, articles and even google’s official documentation, but all in vain. Some forums said I have to change my “print dimensions”, and some suggested that I am choosing the wrong “printer”. Interestingly, I don’t even have a printer. I had very little need to download my word doc. in a PDF format and submit it to my professor but seemed like the universe was conspiring against me that day :(

Anyways, then, after 5 hours of hustle and drinking a big mug of coffee, I started doing hit and trials, and fortunately, this method worked. Therefore, I am sharing a very straightforward solution and 7 simple steps on “how to download your word document in PDF format” and bypass this irritating error :

“A footer of Section 1 is set outside the printable area of age. Do you want to continue?”.

Step 1:

From the top nav bar, click on the “Insert” option.

Step 2:

Select the “Footer” icon.

Step 3:

Next, click on “Edit Footer” option from the list.

Step 4:

You will see this new option “Headers and Footers” option in the top navbar.

Step 5:

Change the value of “Footer from Bottom” from “1.27cm” (which is the default value) to “2cm.

Step 6:

After changing this value, try saving your document in PDF; it will work :)
